April 15: I Can’t Stand the Rain

April 15, 2007 · 2 Comments

April 15

Of all the pictures I have posted, this one most accurately represents the day. By a landslide.

Outside it’s pouring (rumor has it a northeaster is-a-brewin’). Inside it’s boring. Today the Towerlight is about as slow as Maurice Clarett’s 40-time. Sidenote: Clarett, a running back, ran a 4.88. Jermon Bushrod, aspring Offensive Tackle from Towson and Mel Kiper Jr.’s 6th ranked OT in the 2007 NFL Draft, ran a 4.97. Ouch. What I’m getting at is that I have little hope of leaving the office before midnight. It just feels like one of those days.

So, naturally, a group of us sensed the low morale in the office and decided to pe(e)p things up a little bit. It started with one Peep. Evolved to 4. And culminated with a plate full of 10 Peeps. We crammed each plate in the microwave and the sugar-coated birds started bloating faster than Shawn Kemp in his twilight.

This is what we’ve come to.

Nonetheless, for a good solid 3 and a half minutes we felt joy. And it was the last true feeling of happiness anyone in the office experienced for the rest of the day. Well, with the exception of Assistant Photo Editor Louis Jay, who found 11 GB of porn on one of our photo computers. I’m not quite sure if the fact that the files dated back to March 2004 makes it more or less disturbing. But hey, at least we freed up some disk space.

Anyways, today is one of those days where it’s difficult to find anything interesting to post about. And clearly I have failed miserably. But if there’s anything you should take from today’s post it’s this: nothing saves a rainy day like microwaved Peeps.
